This song has been on my heart and mind lately so I thought I would share it here. The words are a powerful reminder that, while it is sometimes all too easy to try to rely on our own strength, we always need the Lord.

Sometimes when life seems gentle and blessings flood my way,
I turn my gaze away from You and soon forget to pray.
But when the sky grows darker and courage turns to fear,
My anxious voice cries upward with words you long to hear.
Lord, I need You when the sea of life is calm.
O Lord, I need You when the wind is blowing strong.
Whether trials come or cease, keep me always on my knees.
Lord, I need You. Lord I need You.
Lord, help me to remember I'm weak but You are strong.
I cannot sing apart from You, for Lord You are my song.
Although I'm prone to wander and boast in all I do;
Lord keep my eyes turned upward so I depend on You.
Lord, I need You when the sea of life is calm.
O Lord, I need You when the wind is blowing strong.
Whether trials come or cease, keep me always on my knees.
Lord, I need You. Lord I need You.

I have never heard that hymn before and I really enjoyed you sharing it. A good reminder that we need the Lord ALL the time!

Oh-I love that song! It's in one of my piano books that Shelly Hamilton has out(a little too difficult for me to play just now, but it's on my list of goals!)

I like this hymn so much I would like to be able to sing it. I wondered if you might know if there is a website online where I could find the music. If you don't that is just fine. Thank you!

I am so glad that you enjoyed the hymn, Anna! It is always exciting to find new hymns with good words! I looked to see if I could find the music online for you, and unfortunately, I came up empty. We have Majesty Music's hymnal which is where we found the song, but apparently it isn't available online. Sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment! :)
Thank you for the comment, Holly! It is a beautiful song, isn't it? That is wonderful that you have the music for it! And I'm sure you'll be able to learn it on the piano sometime with no problems. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award, Johanna! We will take a look at it!
